Born in Madrid, shaped by nature and made by hand.
Graellsia was founded in Madrid in 2014 by a mother and daughter united by a shared fascination with art, nature and traditional craftsmanship. A passion for creating singular pieces gradually grew into a world of accessories made slowly, thoughtfully and by hand.
A family story, rooted in Madrid.
At the heart of Graellsia is the meeting of two generations and different ways of seeing, shaped by art history, economics and a family connection to traditional jewellery making.
In their atelier in the mountains of Madrid, these worlds came together naturally: an appreciation for art, a fascination with flowers and the landscape, and a desire to create objects with character rather than repetition.
From the beginning, every piece has been approached as something personal — designed not simply to complete a look, but to become part of a moment, a memory and, eventually, a story of its own.
THE NAME
The moth behind our name.
Graellsia takes its name from Graellsia isabellae, the Spanish moon moth first discovered in the Sierra de Guadarrama in 1848. Its luminous green wings and delicate, almost botanical geometry have long felt like a natural emblem for the world we create.
Native to the mountain forests of Spain and France, it appears briefly on spring nights. Its quiet rarity, closeness to this landscape and singular beauty reflect values that remain at the heart of Graellsia: nature, detail and pieces that reveal themselves slowly.
Everything begins in nature.
Nature has always been at the heart of Graellsia. A branch of cherry blossom, the shape of a wild flower, a fallen leaf or the imperfect geometry of something found in the forest can become the starting point for a piece.
Our references move freely between the natural world and art — from Japanese botanical imagery to the gardens and water lilies of Monet. Rather than reproducing nature literally, we reinterpret its delicacy, movement and irregularity through objects designed to be worn.

Made slowly, by hand.
Every Graellsia piece passes through human hands from beginning to end.
Flowers, leaves and small sculptural details are shaped individually using materials such as mother-of-pearl, brass, crystal, natural stone, organza, velvet and silk. Preserved flowers and elements gathered from the garden and surrounding landscape also find their way into certain creations.
The process is intentionally slow. Small variations are not corrected away — they are part of what makes a handmade object unique.

Materials are chosen not only for their beauty, but for the way they respond to the hand. Natural textures, delicate metals, crystals, silk and preserved botanical elements become part of compositions in which no two details are completely identical.

Our atelier sits in the mountains of Madrid, surrounded by the landscape that continues to shape our way of seeing.
It is both a place of work and a place of observation: a space where ideas are sketched, materials are tested and pieces are assembled one by one.
Keeping creation close allows us to preserve something essential to Graellsia — intimacy between the idea, the maker and the finished object.

A new chapter.
Graellsia Studio is a new expression of the world that began with Graellsia Madrid.
While the original atelier continues its made-to-order work, Graellsia Studio brings a selection of our most distinctive pieces to a wider audience — objects designed in Madrid, made in small quantities and created with the same attention to material, proportion and detail.
Different format. Same hands, same atelier, same way of making.
